Building Internet with 1-way streets, just like cable ... stop the backhoes!

Telcos have adopted the CATV and mainframe/SNA model of centrality

Their basic idea: skim from our phone bills and fund a CATV network...

CATV was legislated to be two way, but has nil backchannel

Enables: click to buy, start movie, or make a bet

Notes:

There's no two-way exchange. No ability to do work on a symmetrical basis and the assumption is totally hierarchical and one way. This is like building Internet out of one way streets. This is no good. We should lay down in front of the backhoes when the phone companies try to lay their cable.

So, Telcos have adopted the cable TV and mainframe SNA model for Centrality. Their basic idea is to skim from our phone bills and fund a cable TV network. Remember cable TV was legislated to be two way, but really doesn't have the back channel capacity. All that enables is a click to buy, start the movies, or make a bet.
