This is an important table because it shows that about a quarter trillion dollars of industries are affected by Internet. It shows that as Internet can begin to deliver more complex media, then it can compete with other industries.

Today, most bits are carried by atoms. With Internet, bits are distributed by electrons and photons to our screens. This notion of bits and atoms is best explained in the book Being Digital by Nicholas Negroponte, head of MIT's Media Lab. With just graphics the entire book, newspaper, magazine and printing industries of $150 billion will be affected. Similarly when video becomes available, everything from TV to videophones will change.
